The culture of Jalisco has sounded throughout the world as "the traditional culture of Mexico", since many of the cultural elements of this country are present in Jalisco (tequila, mariachis and the charro). 

Puerto Vallarta is not far behind on the cultural issue; Vallarta, being a city located in the state of Jalisco, has a rich culture worth knowing.

10. Among the typical dishes you cannot miss the Pregnant Fish

The gastronomy of Mexico is rich and extensive, and that of Vallarta is not far behind. One of the must-see typical dishes is the pregnant fish, which are pieces of marlin or dogfish in lemon juice, grilled and served with Huichol sauce.

Puerto Vallarta was previously called Las Peñas de Santa María de Guadalupe, it was not until June 5, 1918 that it received the name of Puerto Vallarta, in honor of Ignacio Luis Vallarta, former governor of the state.
