Los Arcos National Park

South of Puerto Vallarta, one of the most emblematic places in the city rises from the sea: Los Arcos National Park. These rock formations have withstood winds and waves for years, and today they are one of the most famous places to visit in Puerto Vallarta and one of the best snorkeling destinations in Banderas Bay.

On your tour, you can take a boat ride through the large rocks feeling the sea breeze. Once in the middle of the area, the time for snorkeling has arrived. Jumping into the water, you will immediately notice the huge population of colorful fish swimming around your feet. We recommend you visit the area known as El Acuario. This site has a depth of 10 meters and is perfect for diving and seeing tropical fish.

Home to a variety of tropical fish and marine life, Puerto Vallarta's Los Arcos National Marine Park is a nationally protected area, making it a vibrant and safe place to explore the ocean.

Various seabirds breed here, some of the important species are booby birds, sea hawks, some species of parakeets, cormorants, pelicans and others.

Note that the Blue Footed Booby can be seen in very few places in the world apart from Los Arcos: in the Sea of Cortez, the Marietas Islands and the Galapagos Islands.

Although the natural site of Los Arcos was declared a protected area in 1975, it is not included in the official list of National Parks of Mexico. However, thanks to the protection of the Navy and local authorities, boats and fishing activities are not allowed to anchor.

The Devil's Canyon, deepest point of Los Arcos, is a must for experienced divers, who can also explore it during a night dive, an activity offered by authorized providers in the area.

If it is in your plans to come to visit Puerto Vallarta or you are already in this paradisiacal place, we recommend that you do not miss the opportunity to get to know these wonderful protected ecosystems, where you can enjoy the nature of the place up close.
